For me it was actually Cat Stevens. My dad was playing some vinyls in the living room one morning, and i really enjoyed it (i even did the air guitar). For christmas i asked him for a guitar, and well from there i really just took off. I play for a night club now, but hes never stopped influenceing me to this day. Recently he just released a greatest hits album "gold" and it is absolutely amazing what he is able to do with his words a guitar. I recommend you guys check it out, and maybe even give it a listen, good stuff. Anyways feel free to comment bout cat or leave your story here. Later

Also Metallica.

My friend had a classical guitar. He played some acoustic *Poop*. I was trying, but i didn't like it. But i was playing from time to time. When i went to high school, i met a guy who was good in guitar playing. We both liked listen to metallica, and we decided to play it together Smile. For Whom The Bell Tolls was my first full-played song on guitar.

For me it was The Verve/Richard Ashcroft. I just loved the Verve so much. Then one day I saw Richard Ashcroft do an acoustic version of "A song for the lovers" And from that day I just really wanted to play guitar! Then Bands like Blink 182, The Offspring, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers made me wanna play more, and really get into guitar playing.

Dan.

When I started, grunge was really big (all I could play then), then I discovered Hendrix, metallica, led zep and the blues.

I like just about anything.....but Rush & classical music redone w/ a modern twist (Olivier Hanriot rocks Mozart's Ronda Alla Turka!!) really inspire me to keep hammering away.
I may never get to those levels....but its better than sitting on the proverbial sidelines and wishing away.

I don't play guitar - but I got into piano because I liked Bach.

I broke my arm pretty bad while skateboarding and couldn't play drums anymore. One day I just figured, *Golly Gee* it, I'll buy a guitar.
