"Standing in the Shadows..." is awesome. I saw it for the first time back in December and I've watched it about a half a dozen times since. A great flick to understand how it all began. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

| Hey I thought I was the only one who fell in love with that DVD.... I saw a little bit of it on one of the cable movie chanels and, HAD to go and buy the DVD. The whole thing was VERY well put together and I watch it all the time. I grew up during the 70's and in about 78 is when I started playing bass. Back then I listened to all the Motown music and never knew anything about who James Jamerson was or any of the other musicians. It's a really good documention of an importand time in music history. |

Hey, welcome Cyborg. Jamerson and Babbit were unknown to me as well until I saw Shadow's. Since then I've really followed up on them. They still fall in behind Tommy Shannon, Roscoe Beck, and Mr. Woton as far as influence, but then those guys were all influenced by them as well. You can really here it in Roscoe's playing. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

Yea it's really interesting to see what you hear as far as styles go in each player. I think it's interesting to hear things from one player's style in another player's style... I guess because you can almost hear in their playing who they listen to and who and what influences them in their music. _________________ Ibanez SR505-BM
