Need help finding year of SR800

I'm looking at an Ibanez SR800 and would like to know the year it was made. They told me it was made in Japan.

Serial no: F9737838

I think it is a 1997 after doing a bit if research on the net.

I had a 1992 model and loved it. What would the difference be between a 1992 version and the 1997?

You're right - it was made in 1997.

yup 1997, built in the Fujigen factory in Japan.
the 1992 had a five piece neck (not to worry, the specs appear to change on what is quoted in the cataloguse to what is produced).
other then that, the colourways we're the only difference.
All the specs from the different years are available in my bass gallery.
