ok, I got this bass and it sounds great, but I like my action low. SOOOOO I thought it would be like my RG3120 I have and after I put new strings (DR tapered strings) and I messed with the bridge to lower the action. I tune low (b flat) AND NOW when I play any string open thats perfectly tuned and go on up to the 12th fret ITS SHARP! I raised and lowered the action and it will not TUNE! As you know this bass doesn't have a truss rod, but I dont think the neck is bad. Any ideas? And how do you fix a warp luthite - (spelling lol) neck?Thanx Lee |

Are you sure your bass doesn't have a truss rod? I have an EDB 690, and it indeed has a truss rod. Also, if you changed the action a lot, the intonation may have gotten slightly out of whack. Or if you were using the wrong screws to change your action, you might have accidentally adjusted the intonation screws instead. (Which would change the height of the action as well.)
The action-adjusting screws are located on the top of the saddles, They point down into the body.
The intonation -adjustment screws are on the back edge of the bridge, pointing towards the headstock.
And if it's your truss rod that needs adjusting, you should be able to access it at the screwed-on panel on the face of the headstock. (If your bass is anything like mine that is!)
You should be able to find pointers/faqs on here to help you with all of this.
But if you're like me, and don't trust your luck, find yourself a reputable guitar repair shop or luthier in your area to do it for you. (Most places will do it for next to nothing.)
Hope this helps! And if it doesn't, sorry for wasting your time! _________________ When it comes to bass, volume shouldn't be measured in decibels, but on the Richter Scale! |
