I have my first lesson in 13 years tomorrow night. It's probably going to be given to me by a kid who was in diapers when I was playing my first gig, but I figured it might be a good thing. Lord knows my technique has slipped a little over the years. That's probably part of the reason behind my injury last summer. I also want to expand my knowledge of theory and practicle application, so it should be interesting. I'll keep you posted.

I've never attended guitar lessons, all is auto-teaching for me Surprised
Even, I'm giving lessons, but I feel kind of strange, because I just improvise; one day right hand pick technique, other lef hand digitation...
They are improving, so I think i'm not doing so bad Cool

OK, that didn't work out so well. Oh, and I was right, some poor, young schmuck that hasn't reached puberty yet. For starters, he was strictly a guitar player. I don't think he has ever picked a bass up. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that they are 2 separate instruments. Just because it has strings does not mean it's played with the same philosophy as a 6 string. I knew it was going to go south right from the get go when he "didn't know" if he could teach me anything because I play with my fingers and not a pick. When I was talking about playing "in the pocket" the poor guy was completely lost, and he went into a full panic when I told him I wanted to pursue a little jazz exploration and maybe some swing. I would of loved to seen the reaction I would have gotten had I told him I wanted to work on my slap/pop technique, or go to a full 4 finger gallop technique. Maybe I should have told him just to teach me a few Nirvana covers Rolling Eyes . Not that I'm giving up on this lesson thing. It may take a few weeks to find a decent instructor, but I'm going to keep on it.

Bro, somehow i find your experience funny Laughing , i've experienced a couple of such shmucks myself. I never took up proper class before, self-taught since day one. The chemistry between the tutor and you is also important, it should be an enjoyable one. Keep us posted yeah Cool

Hey!! Can you really do that???!!! Shocked , Wooooow, you should leave that novice lessons and go to Steve Harris house and say to him: "I'm going to be the next Iron Maiden bass player".
