Hi ... first post to the board. Hoping someone can shed some light on my SRE400. I searched and seen lots about the SR400, but can find nothing on the model I have. I bought it used maybe 4 or 5 years ago because it felt and played and sounded so *Holy Censor, Batman* good. It's different from all the SR400s I've seen, primarily in the style of pickups ... mine are both soapbar style similar to what I've seen on the SR885. Electronics are active (I think) with three band eq powered by 9v battery. IS this making sense? Just hoping to understand it a little bit better. Thanks! _________________ //0~0\\

I am brand new to this board and got here by looking for info on the Ibanez SRE 400 I just picked up at a pawn shop. I came across the following link looking for info. The link has pictures of the SRE 400. Also, in the link, someone must have talked to the factory stating this model was a prototype for another model and Ibanez only made 100 - 150 of these. I don't think the body on this bass is wood, because of the curved back. Let me know if anyone else knows anything about this bass and what it might be worth.

Hah, mystery solved. Apparently the body is Luthite, with active pickups a la Ergodyne. The post referenced in the last message says it is a R&D experiment with 100-150 units made for six months in 1997. The Ergodyne came out of this experiment. I took some photos and am having them digtized so I should be able to post some next week. This is one rare black beauty that plays very, very nicely. _________________ //0~0\\
