I am looking at buying the AW-200 (Vintage Violin) model and wondered if anyone out there has it, and what they think of it? _________________ IRISH41 |

Hi,
My reply is slow getting to you here. A friend of mine recently purchased a new AW-200, in the violin finish. It is a very nice put together guitar. The fit and finish, and sound is very good.
It has a solid spruce top and laminated maple sides and back. And has a very good maple sound, deep and clear.
The set up by the factory had the strings a bit high. But a local luthier was able to give it a decent set up, and the action is low and fast now.
If you can find one to play on yourself, it might be best before you buy. Good luck. |

I recently sold an AW200C-VVS (violin finish) with hard case and am kicking myself over it. Wish I had it back. Why did I sell it? Money! Filthy lucre!
I'm not looking for another A/E to replace it. The AW's discontinued, as you probably know. It's a dreadnaught A/E with Fishman electronics plus tuner (which works only when plugged in). I put a set of flatwounds on it (12 - 54) and loved it.
If the one you're looking at is in half the good shape mine was in, jump on it. It's a great, inexpensive A/E. |
