Ever practiced a solo so many times that your fingers start to give out?

Ever spell a word like practice, then looked at it and thought... that can't be spelled right?

Yeah, it's the weirdest thing. The night before I was practicing this solo and my little fingers were going so fast... nearly had it nailed and decided -- okay enough so I stopped then yesterday I ran through the solo 5 times straight and the 6th time my fingers blew-out. They just quit working. lol I think they're better today though.

Yes! Conscience! That just looks odd, are you sure you didn't make that word up? lol Wink

I do tons of warm-ups. I never freeze up but after I've been playing too long, I start to get sloppier and I start making mistakes that I shouldn't be making. I guess it depends on how long I've been practicing....

EDIT: lol.... do warm-ups and you won't freeze-up. It's scientific, you can't argue with that kind of logic. Mr. Green

That was probably it. It felt like a freeze up and I did start cold. Mystery solved! And since it's scientific it must be true! Wink lol

Yeah, I tend to get sloppy when my fingers get tired too. I usually stop practicing solos (aka get ticked-off) and rock-out with some rhythm guitar. Laughing

Good thing we have a scientist on this board, otherwise I'd be wondering about this forever. Wink

I'm with Agent, after my finger start to get a little fatigued I start to get real sloppy.

I am a genius like that. Why, just this week, I read my first "chapter book". Mr. Green

Hey, here's a cool warm-up excercise I picked up from a Guitar World column (I think it was written by the guys in Shadows Fall)

It's only on the top two strings of the guitar, but you could apply the same pattern to any two strings....

E--------1234--5432--------------3456--7654--------------5678--9876---
B--1234--------------5432--3456--------------7654--5678-----------------

And so forth the whole way up the neck.
