Hey.
Good to see other Ibanez afficianados out there.
So, I lowered my action recently. Now my SR405 plays like glass.
My only concern is the tone differentiation.
Granted my plucking hand takes less of a beating and my fingering hand has no problem sustaining chords above the twelfth fret anymore. I just don't dig the sound of the frets. It's more pronounced now. Whatever, it may require some getting used to.
Also, does anyone have any suggestions on pickups. I'm looking for pups that have more character than the stock DX5s. Who makes the DX5s anyway? |

Your tone issue is a common complaint when lowering the action, especialy with the stock pups. Unfortunatley theres no way around it. It's one of those situations of not being able to have your cake and eating it, too. Changing the pup will help a little. Go with the Duncan Quarter Pounders. You may have to raise the action just a touch to get the tone you're looking for, but they are well worth the investment. Welcome aboard. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |
