Does anyone like this bass? I love passives and more specifically, I love Quarter Pounders. Right now, my P/J has a set of QPs in it and I' m crazy about the tone.

Any thoughts on the RKB?

They seem pretty cool, I just wish they offered a rosewood fretboard model. The maple really doesn't seem fitting when you consider that most people are going for an earthy, retro sound when they pick up this bass. Maple is a bit too hard and bright for my liking.

But I'm a huge fan of Basslines and I'm enjoying my QPs a lot. They have added a ton of depth and "oomph" to my tone. Probably the best rock pickups I've played in a while.

I think what struck me as being so cool about the RKB is that it's the first production bass I've seen that has my same P/J setup with Quarters in both positions. Some guys put a Quarter in the P spot and then a Hot in the Jazz, but I like the tone I get with dual QPs. Nice output and nice muscle.

The RKB definetly has the classic look to it. I think they were designed and marketed towards players like you and I.

As far as rosewood v.s. maple, I'm actually getting away from the rosewood. I've played them for so long. I am looking for something that will give me a little extra bite to cut through the guitar and drums without having to use a lot of EQ or effects. I'm hoping going to maple will do that for me. I haven't had a maple board since my Kramer DMZ and Charvel P-Style (mid-80's).

Awesome! Post back if you get any new maple-fretboard basses.
