I tested an Ergodyne A a few months ago. I happened to like the slim comfy feel of it, but I found the tone to be a bit lacking. It was a bit too cold and metallic for my liking. The Piezos are also detrimental to the tone... that's the exact opposite of what I want to shoot for as far as sound goes.
Other than that, however, I thought it was a nice bass and it definitely has it's own look. I admire basses that break away from tradition but this one was a bit too "space-age" for me. Any thoughts? |

I played one when I bought my SRX. I didn't like the feel of the neck or the tone. Way to sterile for my taste. It was super light, though. After being use to a 70's Fender P it was like I was shouldering nothing at all. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

I agree. "Sterile" is a good word for the way that bass sounds. I do like the comfort factor, but it's not worth sacrificing tone for.
I love Fenders. Some people complain about the 34 inch scale or how heavy they are.... I say screw it. I'll strap a chunk of granite on if it sounds good. |

That's about the truth, especialy with the older Jazz bases. My new Jazz is relatively light, in comparison, though. I was suprised, but it was actually lighter than my '74 P. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |
