Hey hey!
Just a quick observation, but I couldn't help but notice that BTB doesn't rate a mention at all in the bass guitar forum Crying or Very sad
I'm from Australia, and Darwin at that, so I guess we get a lot of trends second hand. However, I've been playing a BTB406QM for around 2 years now, and I reckon it's one of the best basses ever made! What basses are after the BTB range? What is better, opinionally (new word) speaking?

Welcome Fridge, glad to see yet another thumper in the crowd. The btb's are sweet basses. They are pretty much the top of the line Ibanez models. The btb 1000E series is the top dog as far as 4 strings go. It also comes in a 5 and 6 string model. A few of the "signature" models cost a little bit more, but my opinion is that you're just paying for the name on those things. The 1000E is followed up by th 510E and the 400qm. There's also a 300 model, but there are several other series that have high end models that are comparable to the 300. Hope this helps,. By the way, welcome aboard.

Sweet! I have finally found info on Ibanez that I can use.
Thankyou so much.
I must admit that I was getting worried. I've been wondering that if a bass could get 'better' than BTB, then which direction would it go?
I love the six string that I have, and have no intention of changing, but even getting a price comparison here in Darwin has been like pulling teeth... Mafia style!
Thanks for the welcome... I feel all fuzzy on the inside. Smile

I too agree the BTB406QM has a nice punch to it. I love the string spacing as well. I can actually slap the @*#@ out of it too, didn't think I was going to but I have long fingers and a light touch.

The string spacing is definetly one of the advantages to the BTB, IMO. Most of the other models don't offer the option of slapping. The SR's and the EDA,B, and C models are as close as some six strings I've played. Sign of the times, though, I guess. Not to many of us puriest out there anymore. Most new players are playing with picks.

Picks are just wrong. I actually saw a metal pick for basses a couple of years ago, and I saw them again this weekend while out and about hunting for a new semi acoustic (six string). What has the world come to, when people would actually consider putting a piece of metal against their guitars?
The string spacing and independent bridge system of the BTB lend themselves to slapping. I certainly don't have the issues related to other strings vibrating when playing other styles (unless the bridge is cheap). I love these basses, and while others may put them down for whatever personal gain they receive for that, not many take up the challenge to play one for a week!

Agreed. Picks and effects are for guitar players. If you're going to play the bass, play the bass!
