I just got back into playing bass after 20yrs off dealing with life. I picked up a used SR300 of ebay cheap and it seems to be a decent bass, I am playing it through a Beringer BX300 amp. But it must be an older SR series as it only has 3 knobs and has only passive pickups. Anyone have a general idea of the age of this bass. Also, what are decent strings to run on this bass, I play mostly early 80s style punk as well as metal like Venom etc.

I live and die by Elixir Nanoweb. They're a little more expensive, but for my style they give me what I'm looking for.

As I understand it there are several factories in Korea and Indoniesa that just produce insturments with no names. Companies like Cort, Ibanez, and Fender buy these insturments and slap their names on them. Scott may be a little more insightful on this matter, though.

Cort Korea, is the province where they are built, Like Fuji, Japan.

The guitar maker "Cort" is not the maker of the ibanez guitars...

Scott,

Gimme more details here, bro. As it was once explained to me there are actually only 2 or 3 guitar manufacturers in Korea/Indochina. They are contracted out by the big companies, such as Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, ect. to make their low end stuff. From what I've heard they are all made pretty much by the same factories, just slightly altered specs. and a different name slapped on them at the end of the assembly line. I've also heard that they are the ones that produce what is now Krammer, Cort, and Stiennberg. Is this right, or was someone talkin' out their *Horse's Patoot*?

BTW, I know Cort doesn't make Ibanez. Wink
