pretty sad, he couldnt have been that old. Any idea what killed him off? Didnt he used to play a Hagstrom bass? one of those weird 8-string jobs?

I'm not sure what kind of bass he played. I've seen photos of him with the 8 string, but I don't know if that was his primary axe or not. They never came out and said what he died from. The whole thing was real hush-hush. The record label didn't release the statement until 4 or 5 days after he had actuakky passed. If I remember correctly he died on a Saturday night and they released the info to the press on Wednesday or Thursady the following week. A little bizarre, especialy for someone who had so much influence not only with the bass, but on music as well.
