Well, I knew it was coming. I got a call last night from the VP of my firm letting me know M/C cancelled my contract. I’m OK with it, in my mind this gives me the opportunity to negotiate something better than what I had. I really gave up a lot on my M/C contract because it was suppose to go right to hire 90 days from my start date. That obviously never happened and since the contract was a 365 day contract I wasn’t able to recoup anything I gave up. I have a meeting at the firm first thing in the morning to discuss my next move and the possibility of going internal, so we’ll see what happens. As for today, well I’m getting ready to fire up the grill for a little Memorial Day BBQ and I’m spending the bulk of it with just me and the little one. (The wife freaked after the phone call last night and decided to go into the office today to get OT.) Can’t say I blame her too much, this is only the second time since we’ve been together that I’ve lost a contract. Total, this is number 4 so I’m use to it and not to overly concerned. It’s all part of the business. Everyone have a very happy Memorial Day and I’ll post tomorrow afternoon to let you all know how my meeting went. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

Wow!
I hope that office party thingy wasnt an "indirect" cause of the contract termination...
Hope things go well for you in the meeting.
Take care, bro! _________________

Not at all, they've been down sizing for a couple of months now. I actually made it longer than I should of based on a last hired/first fired theory. With my time in I should of been cut on the 2nd round, and I made it to the 4th, so that says something in it's self. I called one of the guys I worked with and he told me that after I left Friday they reduced our entire dept. (9 total) down to 2. I feel sorry for those 2 guys. That leaves 2 people to support 2800 PC's. Hardware, software, and upgrades. Not a fun place to be. _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

A word to the wise, be careful what you wish for, you may get it! The firm had a contract they wanted me on, the money and hours are right, it's at a private college (Washington University) so all of my schooling and my wifes schooling will be free if we attend there, 90 day contract to hire, and lots of other perks. Man, I really wanted this one. What a great gig! Well, I got it. Here's the catch, they're not going to be ready to move on it until mid July! I'm going to be umemployed for nearly 6 weeks! Oh, they're killing me here! _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |

OK, I'm back in the saddle again. I picked up a 6 month contract with Citi Corp. in their "Mobile Technologies" division doing some laptop support. Not the ideal contract, but it pays more then unemployment and buys me time to work on some of the bigger contracts I want without the stress. Thanks for all the support, gang! _________________ Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice skate up hill. |
