So, I get together with on of my old bandmates from high school yesterday. Just kind of casual/improv jam, nothing serious. It went really well, so much so we're talking about getting a new project off the ground. We decided that we wouldn't use any of the old stuff (not that we could remember much of it anyway), it'll all be new material with the most of it being acoustic. We'll see what happens. I'll post updates, pics, and songs as it progress'.

Yeah, the band was called Troubadour. We were together from the summer of '85 - the winter of '91. We were pretty good. We started off as a cover band, doing songs from bands like Tesla, G N' R, Skid Row, and Queensryche. Eventualy we went to an all original format. Back then we all thought we were going to be rock stars. Wink Anyway, we had a problem over the years keeping a steady drummer and our singer had a lot of personal problems. I think his worsening drug addiction is what finally killed the band. He was a very, very talented singer, but it got to much for us to put up with day in and day out. Unfortunatley finding someone to replace him was near impossible. We finally just called it quits. This time around it's the guitarist, his wife on vocals, my wife on drums, myself, and asperations to be anything more than a garage band.

I got a little news on the singer a few weeks back. First I'd heard about him in probably 5 years. To be honest, I thought he was dead. Anyway, he's apparently married now and cleaned his life up a bit. He's paying the piper, though. From what I heard he has been having siezures and long term memory lose over that last several years. A result of the drugs from years ago. He can't remember much of anything past 6 months.

Yeah, it is. But what can you do? Things like that are a consious choice. On one hand I feel for the guy, on the other hand it's the decisions he made that put him in his current position. No one forced his hand.

It's still sad that some people don't realize the consequences of thier actions until it's too late.

I have been there and done all that. I have taken enough drugs in 4 years to last some people a lifetime. But since I have quit (over 2 years now) I see some of the effects it had on me. I lost a lot of my short term memory, like remembering to do little things here and there, and some of my long term memory, there are almost 3 years that I can only remember bits and pieces of. I am the non-drug advocate now. I was lucky enough never to be a addict, I could always say no when I wanted to. I am still faced with it every day and see loved ones suffer because of thier addictions. I just know what it can do to people because I have seen it first hand with my father, my little sister, and a long term now ex boyfriend. Like I said some things are better left alone because before you know it, it's to late. I just hate seeing people go throught it and if I can have any influence over them I want to help them realize once you're on that path, you're going nowhere but down.
