The way I read this link initially was 7 separate ways to play the Ionian mode. After looking at it, I think it's all 7 of the major modes in succession (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian) starting with the Ionian position. The links on the home page labled with the other mode names are how you would start your positions if you started with that particular mode, followed by the other 6 positions (I think). When you get the time would you give it a glance and post your opinion? I've been trying to locate scale and mode material for the 5 for a couple of weeks, so if I'm right on this one I hit pay dirt. Thanks.

I just got in.. its 3:22 am..

Been Fishing on my boat in the Gulf and went thru some Small craft advisory waters that werent on the marine forecast...

Barely made it thru an 8 mile stretch of hideous wave.. and trying to beat the sundown to get to the marina....

Then of course had to fish the private holes at the marina til 1:30 am..

ended up catching about 20 trout and 6 large Red fish...

wheew!!!

im exhausted.....

i will have a look at it tomorrow afternoon...

Ouch!!
Ay first glance I can see run and stay away from this kind of scale theory...

No matter what the Mode is, there are only 7 notes per scale..
Using 4 note per string progressions is VERY negative...

Take the scales and concvert them the 3 notes per string...

This will be the best way to play them and more efficiant and memory retaining way..
Aslo, Berklee teaches 3 note scales as well as GIT..

This 4 note per string stuff is very bad..

Heres and example of the Ionian major scale mode ( the pattern is universal for any key)

This one id in the key of G:

E--------------------------------------------------------------5---7---8---
B---------------------------------------------------5---7---8--------------
G---------------------------------------4---5---7--------------------------
D--------------------------4---5---7---------------------------------------
A-------------3---5---7----------------------------------------------------
E--3---5---7----------------------------------------------------------------

Granted this is for guitar but you get the idea...

Convert all 4 note per string scales into 3 note per string scales in all 7 modes ...

You will be very happy!

they look good to me...

But im looking at them with a guitarists eyes...

So im only seeing fragments of the whole fretboard usage...
