Hi I'm new here and had my Rg a few months after bringing it back from the states.
What I was wondering was, is there anywhere on the net that tells you what the serial number on the back of the headstock means, I read that the first digits are the year of manufacture but mine says 60 and I'm pretty sure thats wrong!.
Thanks in advance |

Ibanez has changed it's serial numbering schemes several times since they started using them, around mid 1975. Especially since 1987, there are some cases where it helps to know what model and features your guitar has.
I'm assuming from your username that your's is an RG270. That would mean that the first six in the serial number stands for 1996. |

| According to Jemsite, the year is the only relevant bit of information in an Ibanez serial no. The other numbers are just sequentially applied as the guitars are made, and do not in any way indicate model or range - nor do Ibanez have a register of serial numbers against guitars. |
