|
|
I recently purchased a used Ibanez AW100CE from a local pawn shop. It's serial number is #98090453 Can anyone shed some light as to what year my guitar is and what they are worth used as well as what the retail price was.
I must mention that my guitar sounds fantastic for what I assume is a low budget acoustic / electric but that the action was sky high when I brought it home. I was able to sand down the bridge to lower the action and bring it to a more tolerable level. The only problem now is that as much as I'd like to bring it down just a bit more, the string angle at the bridge is as tolerable as it's ever going to be and lowering it any more will leave me with almost no angle at all.
Are these modesl all prone to this malady? I can not see spending $300 plus on a neck reset on such a guitar. What is Ibanez like in terms of warranties in such a situation?
Thanks for all your advice!

I am afraid you are not going to get any help from Ibanez under warranty: second hand from a pawn shop?? Dream on.
However, neck resets are a last resort and should only really be considered when the neck is in danger of falling out - I doubt it is the solution for string height issues. Check out this link:

for some reliable info on neck adjustments and resets. You may want to try truss rod adjustment along with bridge modifications. All of this should be done by ane experienced repairperson of course!
I see your post is nearly three years old, but I only started looking at this forum today. My wife just bought a Talman in the States and my brother in law has an AW of some sort which although has a pickup and microphone blender system sounds awful plugged in! |
