Yeah. It may be overheating. My friend had same problem, and guys at service told him to place it allways on hard and flat base. There is a little space between the laptop and a desk and it is used for cooling airflow.

If the laptop isnt fully charged it takes more power from the adaptor. And if its battery is empty it takes alot of power right fom the adaptor. Both the laptop and Adaptor get hot really fast. Charge the laptop fully before any use. Hope this helps, I just bought my 1st laptop.

yeah more than likely the cpu was overheating.

if it's a P4 then it's definitley a heat issue.

always go for mobile chips when buying mobile computers!

I have AMD athlon64 in my laptop. When i watch a movie or do anything with graphics, it produces a lot of hot air Very Happy.

Yeah its a worrying issue. Laptops get very hot, especially in the adaptor. I put my hand by the fan guard when the fan activtes and the air is pretty hot. Latops need to be quiet so the fan only comes on when its hot, but as i type this, it comes on for about a minute, goes off for about 1 or 2 minutes then comes back on for 30/60 seconds. I can almost set my watch to it. But there should be an option that lets you set the fan to be on for longer bursts so it doesnt need to come on so often. They need to invent a much quieter fan, PC's are silent. And you have to wonder, if the fan's cooling the laptop, whats cooling the fan? Rolling Eyes

There is a software for linux, that let you control all the cooling and energy saving stuff.

Could be battery issues as well. Laptop batteries can get real hot.

It's definitely overheating. When CPU gets too hot, computer has to shut off to prevent damage.
